What is a Living Print?

In the early days of working with soft wax, a material that allows the wax to be completely morphed and molded into forms with a simple touch, I would pick up metal castings and find there would be fingerprints I was not intending to showcase on a piece. So much time was spent refining pieces to create smooth surfaces, free of any “flaws”. Sitting at my bench one afternoon, a transformative thought popped in my head: What if I celebrated the finger prints instead of grinding and polishing them all away?

The Living Print is truly 1 of 1, just like the ones you love most. The possibilities are endless- Pendants for necklaces or charms for bracelets, single sided with an engraved name or date, double sided with a print on each side. Birthstones or simply a favorite gemstones pavéd framing these celebrated marks or nesting around the bottom. We’ve made prints of parents, partners, children, grandparents, siblings, pets and best friends.
